About Agnes Scott College
Agnes Scott College is the top-ranked national liberal arts college in
Georgia, the highest-ranked women’s college in the South, one of the
nation’s best values and among the most diverse colleges in the country,
according to the 2006 U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges” rankings.
At number 55 among national liberal arts colleges, Agnes Scott shares the
position with five others, including Kalamazoo, Saint Olaf, Wheaton (Ill.)
and Wofford colleges and Illinois Wesleyan University. No women’s college in
Georgia or any other Southern state is ranked above Agnes Scott.
The comprehensive report is compiled annually by the national news magazine.
Criteria applied by “Best Colleges” to evaluate each institution include:
reputation for student retention and graduation, resources provided to its
faculty, selectivity in admitting students, the percentage of alumnae who
contribute annually and even the reputation it enjoys among other senior
college administrators.
In addition to its strong overall standing, each year Agnes Scott secures a
strong position among liberal arts colleges evaluated for racial diversity,
this year number nine among the top 19. More than 23 percent of Agnes Scott
students identify themselves as African American, and combined with enrolled
Asian, Latino and international students, the college takes pride in its
multicultural campus.
